Chattanooga, Tennessee, April 7, 1864

I have not written to you since we left Nashville. We left there the 23rd of March. We marched and carried our knapsacks and came to Stevenson, Alabama, the 5th of April, which was one hundred and thirteen miles, then we went on railroad cars to Chattanooga, and probably we will go to the front in the morning to Ringgold, Georgia, where our brigade and division is.

Mr. X stole a five dollar hat in Stevenson from a settler and sold it to get money, all went well.
