March 25, 1863

We now have the Tennessee 1st cavalry in our brigade, they are twelve hundred men, they do a lot of marching and spying like we did before.

General Buel makes use of us instead of cavalry. He said that the 2nd Minnesota was only a set of bloodhounds anyway.

The soldiers are happy to be under General Rosencrans. His actions prove that he is well qualified for his duty.

When he took command the army was like a herd of cattle, but now there is a big improvement which the soldiers can easily see.
